FATHER O'REILLY WREATH LAYING CEREMONY
Thursday, March 12 - 10am
The Hibernian Benevolent Society of Atlanta lays a wreath each year at the memorial to Father O’Reilly at Atlanta City Hall.
The 2026 Father O’Reilly Wreath Laying Ceremony will take place at Atlanta City Hall on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at 10:00 AM. A reception will immediately follow from 11:00–12:00 PM at the Catholic Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. We hope many of you will be able to attend. We will be joined by Irish America 250.
The city has offered to move the speaking portion of the Father O’Reilly Wreath Laying Ceremony indoors. The program will begin in the Auditorium of the City Hall Tower (Old Council Chambers). Please note that this is not the atrium area.
Following the remarks, we will proceed outside to the Father O’Reilly Memorial for the wreath laying, and then walk together to the Catholic Shrine of the Immaculate Conception for the reception.
Please enter Atlanta City Hall at 55 Trinity Ave. and proceed toward the Tower side of the building. The Auditorium (Old Council Chambers) is located on the second level.
As part of the Irish America 250 initiative, Father O’Reilly will be honored as an “Unsung Hero” with the unveiling of a commemorative plaque at his tomb at the Catholic Shrine of the Immaculate Conception.
Please join us at the Catholic Shrine of the Immaculate Conception after the wreath laying for an Irish tea reception.
